Job Description

I do not know about you, but I find that sometimes I need to be reminded of how important my "job" is. I found this to be an accurate description of my personal responsibilities.

"I'm nurturing two homosapiens into the dominant values of the Judeo-Christian tradition so that they may be instruments for the transformation of the social order into the kind of eschatological utopia God envisioned from the beginning of time." ~A Mom

To all you moms out there, God has entrusted you with the most precious thing ever-- your children. You have the awesome and privileged responsibility of raising your children in the LORD. In introducing them to the most Holy God and being their living example of what a intimate relationship with Christ looks like. A humbling thought, one to keep me on my knees before God. For what a challenge- if I am to be the example my children see of what a relationship with God is- how important is my own walk with God? Some people would have you believe that your life and decisions only affect you and God. Where it is true that your personal walk with God is between you and God, it cannot be dismissed that as Christians and especially as parents we do everything in plain sight. I know that as a mother I do not have really anything that is private. Even bathroom time without kiddos is a rare privilege and if I cannot expect to have this how can I then assume that they are not watching what my personal walk with God is like?
So is it not enough I take them to church and Sunday School? I read them bible stories and make them pray before we eat so I have done my part right? No- there is no substitute for the real thing- the "do as I say, but not as I do" we all know doesn't work so why do we think it will work when it comes to the most important thing in this world- our own personal relationship with the Creator?
I will finish with this. They are watching and will always be. Just as Jesus modeled for us so we must be that living example for our children.
I challenge you to be the best model for your children today you can be. Take this day by day and remember to do as you tell you children to do.
