This has been the question we have asked ourselves for a while now as we have debated the great game craze. With all the pros and cons listed and tallied, we set out to buy our very own Wii yesterday. We were very excited ( and still are) about our new "family toy". Of course this is nothing like the first Nintendo that Chris and I grew up with and so.... out came all the old stories of how " when I was a kid" : ) Remember the game-- Duck hunt? How cool was that gun? and the Running game that had that mat? I guess I was around 6 when we got that Nintendo- We thought that was so cool and here our kids are playing games on this totally interactive toy- ( toy my foot it is basically a computer system) so today we played tennis, golf, baseball, boxing and bowling, all within our very own home. We have had a blast-- Mackenzie can play all the games without help -- and beats daddy most of the time : ) ------- Samantha even wants her own turn - half the time she waves it around in crazy circles other times she talks into the hand remote like a phone. Too cute. It truly is a family game. There is no "gaming" knowledge needed to play the wii which is good for me and weather is never an issue.
The hard part is going to be not playing it too much. We did enjoy some time out and about our lovely city tonight as we went in search of jeans for our ever growing taller 5 year old. Old Navy has a sale going on right now through Thursday -- jeans for $10- we got the only pair in her size we could find, as well as an adorable dress and two shirts all for $30. Then on to Chik-Fil-A for play time- We let the girls run around and play and just be kids. Gotta love CFA they have the cleanest play areas of any of the restaurants and I love it! All in all we have had a wonderful weekend. Did I mention Chris has stared workups so this has been his first and will be his only weekend off this month : ( so we truly have had lots and lots of family time and we have enjoyed every minute of it. Tomorrow we have church and then ..... drum roll please............
date night!! TA Da!! - sorry kiddos but Mommy wants some of Daddy's undivided attention- I am very excited about the thought of time for just the two of us. As you know when you get the chance you jump at it and grab it with both hands- kinda like a kid trying to stand up in the front seat of the buggy and don't let go :)
Well I think I am done rambling tonight- I may have to come back and make sense of this tomorrow.
